Washington State Library's collection of William H. Avery's correspondence, 1870-1911.

This is a collection of 13 letters written by William H. Avery from 1870 through 1911. The main correspondence was from Avery to his friend and business partner in Lamar, MO, Mr. C.H. Brown. There are two letters in the collection written to his daughter and son respectively, Mrs. Xora Avery Tompkins and Russ Avery. Mrs. Tompkins daughter-in-law, Virginia Arms Tompkins, gave 13 letters of Mr. Avery's to the Department of General Administration, which made their way to the Washington State Library, as a contribution to the State's memorabilia.

Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank. Charles had become a banker by 1930. Between 1957 & 1958 Charles passed away. And Maud passed away on 29 May 1960 in Chehalis, WA.
